Learning Support Services
Learning Support Services or LSS offers a variety of courses specific to each learner’s unique needs to set up and build upon student successes to further develop students within an inclusive environment.
Students have the opportunity to work with a variety of staff and peer mentors to strengthen students through a holistic lens incorporating their strengths, interests and passions to build and design goals. Students’ reflection and involvement in the creation of these goals and their learning is consistently encouraged with students collaboratively planning their Individual Education Plan (IEP) or Student Learning Plan (SLP) when applicable.
Cariboo Hill’s Course Support, Access and Alternate Education resources and programs are designed to work collaboratively with parents, staff, and students to ensure that the level of adaptations are meeting student needs to ensure success.
Our Access teachers are Kelsey Haines and Julia Borghesi. Access supports students who benefit from a functional skills approach. Students are involved in mainstream courses in addition to working on vocational and independent life skills. All students have an Individual Education plan that is collaboratively designed, implemented, and reviewed by parents, staff, and students as appropriate.
Our Learning Support teachers are Ray Deleebeeck, Addy Treleaven and Warne Sisler.
Additionally, Addy Treleaven is our Alternate Education teacher, and the Learning Support Services Department Head is Warne Sisler.
Please feel free to reach out to each teacher directly if you have specific questions or to Warne.Sisler@burnabyschools.ca for more information.
